Armed Forces Day - 30th June
NANMA will be appearing at Bury St Edmunds as part of the National Armed Forces Day. This is 'one for the boys' in medieval terms: women did not bear arms, although several successfully defended castles while their lords were away on campaign. This is a one day event running from 11am to 4pm in the Abbey Gardens. We will be demonstrating armour, archery and bill drill. These reflect combatants from the various strata of medieval society, the landed knights, humble foot soldiers and mercenary archers that comprised the medieval army.
